Thomas Rehder. Born in 1956, Mr. Rehder passed his military service at the german navy and worked as assistant shipyard manager prior to earning a business degree at European Business School, Frankfurt. In 1981 he joined Intercontinent Chartering Inc., New York, as a chartering broker for 3 years. In 1984 he moved to Hamburg to work as a chartering broker with the family company Carsten Rehder (GmbH & Co) in 1984. Since 1987 he is managing partner at Carsten Rehder (GmbH & Co) where he also became responsible for the shipowning side of the business in 1996. Carsten Rehder presently operate 13 container vessels, MPP ships and bulk carriers and is active in brokerage, ship management and marine insurance through affiliate companies. Mr. Rehder has been active for many years in various trade organisations and holds a position as member of the council of German Shipowners Association. Mr. Rehder is board member of the European Community Shipowners‘ Associations.
