ES|ECSA European School Competition
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, European Shipowners | ECSA invites young students aged 9–12 to join an European school competition and show us their ideas for the ships of the future!

The European School Competition, organised by European Shipowners | ECSA, invites young students aged 9 to 12 from across Europe to imagine the ships of the future. As part of ES|ECSA’s 60th anniversary, the competition encourages creativity and raises awareness of the importance of shipping in everyday life and the European economy.
Participants are asked to design their vision of a ship in 60 years’ time through drawings, paintings, sculptures or other creative formats. The competition has brought together 419 participants from 17 countries across Europe, 10 of which you can see in the folder below, highlighting the strong engagement and creativity of young people from diverse backgrounds.

Who can take part?
Please note that the deadline for submissions has passed. The competition was open to students aged 9–12 across Europe.
How do I take part?
It’s easy! Create, paint, draw, sculpture or capture what you think ships will look like 60 years from now. Share the artwork and ask your teacher to send it by email to:
Format: One clear picture per artwork is sufficient and they may be sent together in a single email if possible. Along with the artworks, we kindly ask to include the name of the school and the first names and ages of the pupils (provided this is acceptable and agreed to by the parents). Please ensure that each artwork can be clearly linked to the pupil’s first name.
Important: Entries must be individual (one student per entry)
What is the prize?
The shortlisted students (four entries in total), together with their teacher and one parent, will be invited to a special event in Cyprus on 29 April 2026 on the occasion of the meeting of the EU transport ministers. The winner will be announced during the event.
In addition, your artwork will be featured in a special booklet, showcasing all shortlisted projects!
