Rui Raposo is a Merchant Marine officer and economist graduated by the University of Lisbon. He currently serves as President of Portuguese Shipowners Association, President of the Lisbon Port Community, President of Intermodal Promotion Centre Portugal, President of the Portuguese Nautical School General Council and NATO Expert-Planning Board for Ocean Shipping.

He has previously served as a Member of the board of TRANSINSULAR, Portuguese Shipowner, Principal of the ENIDH, Portuguese Nautical School, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General for Ports and Shipping in Lisbon, Inspector-General for Ships of the Portuguese Maritime Administration, Director for Shipping of the Portuguese Maritime Administration, President of  the International Shipping Register of Madeira, IMO (International Maritime Organization) Consultant, Visiting Professor of the World Maritime University, Sweden and Visiting Professor of the University of Economics, Lisbon.
