ECSA is looking for a Director for Social and Fiscal Affairs

The European Community Shipowners’ Associations is the umbrella organisation of the national shipowners’ associations of the EU and Norway. European shipowners control around 40% of the world’s shipping fleet. ECSA’s prime task is to represent the overall interests of the European shipping industry with the institutions of the European Union. The organisation operates from Brussels, where it employs a dedicated team of nine people.

For immediate start, we are looking for a

DIRECTOR SOCIAL AND FISCAL AFFAIRS

The Director Social and Fiscal Affairs is responsible for the pro-active follow-up of social and fiscal policies relevant to EU shipping. He or she coordinates the work of the Social Affairs Committee and the State Aid and Taxation Working Groups. The Director further plays a key role in the Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee for Maritime Transport, preparing employers’ positions, fostering partnerships with trade unions and coordinating projects and initiatives to stimulate maritime careers.

We are looking for a senior colleague who:

– is thoroughly familiar with the functioning of the European Union;
– has experience with lobbying in Brussels and understands the ethics involved;
– is a ‘people-person’ with strong communication and negotiation skills;
– is a loyal, flexible and result-oriented team-player;
– has a superior command of English, both spoken and written.

Candidates who have experience in the shipping industry and understand international and EU shipping policy and law will have a strong advantage. Knowledge of other relevant EU languages is considered a plus as well.
