EMSA Executive Director addresses ECSA in Lisbon
The Executive Director of the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), Ms Maja Markovčić Kostelac, addressed ECSA’s Safety & Environment Committee (SEC) on 28 May 2019 in Lisbon.
“The role of EMSA is to work on the technical aspects of the policy decisions taken by the European Commission,” said Ms Kostelac. “It is also important for us to liaise with the industry to better understand the situation on the ground.”
The ECSA Safety & Environment Committee was holding its meeting at EMSA’s premises from 27-29 May. Similarly to previous years, the Safety & Environment Committee and EMSA representatives had the chance to exchange technical views on topics of common interest. Amongst the topics covered, particular attention was given to Fire Safety and Damage Stability of Ro-Ro Passenger Ships, LNG Bunkering Guidance and the dedicated Union information system to cater for the provisions of the EU MRV Regulation (THETIS-MRV).
