ES|ECSA European School Creative Competition

What will ships look like 60 years from now? To mark its 60th anniversary, European Shipowners | ECSA invites schools across the EU to take part in a creative competition for children aged 9–12. Young Europeans are encouraged to imagine the ship of the future – innovative, sustainable, and digitally advanced – and bring it to life through drawing, painting, sculpture – or something fourth – the only limit is the imagination!

The competition aims to inspire curiosity about Europe’s maritime world, highlight the importance of shipping for our economy and environment, and connect pupils, teachers, policymakers, and the shipping community.

Who can take part?
Pupils aged 9–12, participating through their school.

What to create?
Artwork imagining “My Ship in 2085,” reflecting creativity, sustainability, and forward-thinking design.

How to submit?
Schools can submit entries digitally or by post, via their national shipowners’ association or directly to ES|ECSA.

Prizes
Winners will receive maritime-themed LEGO sets, certificates, and a feature on ECSA’s channels. The winning class will enjoy a visit to a ship—or a virtual guided tour with a maritime professional. Shortlisted works will be showcased in a special booklet and exhibited at the European Parliament in 2026.

Join us in celebrating 60 years of European cooperation in shipping – and help us imagine the next 60.
